FAQ

What is the process of editing my photos?

This is a question I get asked over and over again!  I will answer it to the best of my abilities!  🙂  After any session or wedding I start off downloading and backing up all my images.  After this I use Adobe Bridge to rate and cull my images.  After I have rated the images I want to keep, I open these images in Adobe Camera Raw.  From here is when I do minor tweaks to the images (thus making the digital negative), batch rename, and process the images into JPEG format.  After this, I open all images I want to fully edit into Adobe Photoshop.  This is where I adjust white balance, change color hues, run some fabulous actions I have designed myself, etc.  Once I have finished all extensive editing to the images,  I save/post to blog/etc.

What are digital negatives?

These are files that have only had the first round of editing done on them that includes no major retouching or resizing.  Since I shoot in RAW format only, the digital images come out with a ton of editing potential.  The images that you see on my website, blog, or in my albums are NOT the digital negatives.  The images in these categories have been fully edited to their maximum potential.

Are the images in my gallery digital negatives?  What about on the blog?

Yes and no!  In the gallery you will see my favorite photos that I have uploaded on my blog and the remaining being digital negatives.  Wait!  Before you have a heart attack, any image that you order as a print or you want used in an album will be fully edited like the blog photos.  I will edit your order before it is sent to the lab for processing.  If you choose to purchase a disc of session or wedding images, this will include both the full edited images you viewed on the blog and the remaining being digital negatives.  You can choose to have all the images on the disc fully edited for an additional charge.

Why are the photos in my gallery so expensive when I can print them cheaper somewhere else?

This is a great question that I LOVE answering!!!  It all starts with the amount of time that we put into fully editing the images that you want to have printed.  We make sure that we give each individual image our utmost attention and skills, in return we must charge accordingly for our time.  If you decide to take the images to a one-hour photo place, we won’t name any names, you are paying for exactly that.  They will be printing your images on a low quality paper and also on equipment that is made to mass produce images as fast as possible.  However, when you purchase through us, we have our professional photo lab process our prints.  They use high quality photographic paper and equipment that is professional calibrated to coincide with the color hues from my computer.  They also have the experience and knowledge to make sure that no matter when size print you want, the quality of the photo will be exceptional.

What is a print credit?

A print credit is like a gift certificate that can be redeemed for prints and/or any products ordered online through your gallery. There are many different types of products available besides prints such as photobooks, accordion albums, greeting cards, gallery canvas wraps, and flushmount albums. If you would like to take a look at examples of any of these products before placing your order feel free to let us know!

What happens after my session is completed? 

I will post my favorite images from your session on my Facebook fan page and blog within 2-3 weeks of your session date as well as upload your images into your private gallery for your viewing pleasure!  These images will include my fully edited favorite images that I posted on my blog and the remaining images as digital negatives.  From your online gallery you can purchase different print sizes, albums, and canvas.  If you would rather purchase the disc of digital negatives you can do that as well and it will be mailed to you.

What happens after my wedding day?

I will post my favorite images from your session on my Facebook fan page and blog within 4 weeks of your wedding.  These images will be fully edited for your viewing.  Then within 4 to 6 weeks of your wedding date I will have your online gallery uploaded for your viewing pleasure.  These images will include my favorite photos that I already posted and the rest of the images after I edited them down which will be digital negatives.  From your online gallery you can purchase different print sizes, canvas, and other products.  If you would rather purchase the digital negative disc it will be mailed to you within 8 weeks of your wedding date.

How do I order my wedding album?

If you choose to purchase an album or one is included in your package you will need to do the following to get the design process started…

Once you get the time you will need to pick out around 40 of your favorite wedding images for your album.  We average around 3 to 4 images per spread to keep your album simple and timeless (I would pick a few getting ready photos, 5 to 6 of the two of you together, 3 of bridesmaids, 3 of groomsmen, 2 to 4 family formals, and the rest of ceremony/reception/details).  We will design a draft of your album and upload it to your gallery for you to proof.  Let us know what changes your would like to make to the album.  The first 3 changes are free, anything after that is $25/image.  Once you have approved your album design we send it to our album company for them to start!  3 to 4 weeks later it will arrive at our studio and we’ll mail it to you!

Disclaimers:

Travel fees may apply for all weddings and sessions outside the Amarillo area.

When booking a wedding, a non-refundable deposit equal to $700 is due at the time of booking.  The remaining balance is due no later than one month prior to the wedding.

The full portrait session payment is due at the time of the session.  All product payments must be paid prior to ordering.

All photos taken by Shelby Tavern Photography, both wedding and portraits, can be used in advertising/marketing promotions for Shelby Tavern Photography.  This can pertain to, but is not limited to, any online promotions, publications, outdoor advertising, etc.

    DeDe Longoria - Hi Shelby,
    How are you and your family doing? Do you all have a little daughter or son by now? Hope everyone is healthy and happy!
    I was wondering about Emily and Mark’s wedding package–I can’t remember if they chose a package that included an album. Also I can’t find a price list. If you have a chance could you email me–thought some wedding photos would make a nice Christmas gift.
